Etsy Announces 2022 Design Awards Winners

It’s no secret that Etsy has grown to include some of the coolest products from creators worldwide. Over the years, it’s gone from a small e-commerce site for craftsmen to sell their work to a massive online artistic marketplace. A place where you’re sure to find all the things you didn’t know you needed—and then some.

Since 2019, Etsy has been honoring its global community of creators through the Design Awards, also known as the Etsies. The judges tasked with identifying this year’s nominees include famed fashion designer Jenna Lyons, interior designers Brigette Romanek and Jake Arnold, and Etsy’s trend expert Dayna Isom Johnson. Over the course of several weeks, the group sifted through thousands of applicants in search of designs with that wow factor.

“It’s become really much more sophisticated,” Jenna says. “There is now some really incredibly skilled craftsmanship that comes out of there. Not just something to put on your table for a holiday dinner, but someone who is actually making the table or a beautiful chair or an incredible lamp. It’s really moved out of smaller, individual items, and expanded into things that can outfit your entire home or lifestyle.”

After carefully deliberating the judges handpicked 100 finalists across 10 categories (home decor and lighting, kitchen and dining, clothing and accessories, etc.). According to Brigette, the group looked for pieces (and bodies of work) with originality, thoughtfulness, functionality, and were aesthetically pleasing.

“The Etsy Design Awards unearth the most unbelievable and creative talent in our community,” Dayna says. “With millions of items to discover in the Etsy marketplace, these awards bring forward items that may have not yet been discovered and introduce these incredibly skilled makers and curators to shoppers around the world.”

Today, the winners have officially been announced. Scroll down to learn more about 10 of our favorites.
