Maria Menounos Considering Surrogacy With Kevin Undergaro Following Brain Tumor

Maria Menounos and her longtime love, Kevin Undergaro, tied the knot during New Year’s Eve in Times Square — and now that the couple made things official, they’re eager to start a family.

The excited bride can’t wait to become a mom and opened up about their plans in PEOPLE magazine. In fact, prior to their public wedding celebration, Maria was undergoing IVF treatment when she was diagnosed with a benign brain tumor that halted their plans.

Now, with 99.9% of the tumor removed, she’s eager to get started…provided doctor approval.

“I need to work with doctors to see if getting pregnant is the smartest thing,” Menounos told the mag. “I do have some kids in the freezer, maybe we’ll implant. But if not, we’ll look into surrogacy.”

Undergaro is eager to become a father but asserted that Menounos’ health comes first. “We definitely want children,” he added. “But I’m very concerned about her going through a pregnancy, and I would like to explore using a surrogate because her body has been through hell. I want a baby desperately, but I don’t want it to be at the risk of her health.”

Now that their wedding is behind them, their focus this month is on meeting with Menounos’ doctor and exploring surrogate options to make their family dreams a reality. “I really believe that God has a plan,” the host said. “If I’m supposed to have a baby, it’s going to happen. If not, maybe God is protecting me from this tumor growing.”
