My Mind & Me Trailer Shares Raw Insight Into The Star’s Private Life

Selena Gomez’s raw documentary Selena Gomez: My Mind & Me will soon be premiering on Apple TV+ and is set to offer an important and vulnerable insight into her private world.

In support of global mental health education and awareness, the documentary shows Selena bravely making her own journey in this revealing film, opening up about her struggles with her own mental and physical health.

A description from Apple reads: “After years in the limelight, Selena Gomez achieves unimaginable stardom. But just as she reaches a new peak, an unexpected turn pulls her into darkness. This uniquely raw and intimate documentary spans her six-year journey into a new light”.

The documentary spans six years of Selena’s life – a period in which she endured a very public breakup with singer Justin Bieber, underwent a kidney transplant due to Lupus and spoke candidly about her struggles with mental health.

As someone who has sold 210 million singles worldwide and has achieved critical acclaim for her series Only Murders In The Building, her journey as a singing and acting superstar is also followed over the years.

“A six-year labour of love, a breakthrough, every breathe,” reads the short synopsis of the documentary, which has been directed and produced by Alek Keshishian, who directed the critically acclaimed film Madonna: Truth or Dare.

What will Selena discuss in her documentary?

According to a preview of Selena Gomez: My Mind & Me in Vanity Fair, Selena will talk in depth about her bipolar diagnosis, as well as her experiences with a lupus diagnosis, a kidney transplant and chemotherapy.

“When I first got out, I didn’t know how I’d cope with my diagnosis,” Gomez says about her bipolar diagnosis in the clip, posted to TikTok. “What if it happened again? What if the next time, I couldn’t come back? I needed to keep learning about it. I needed to take it day by day.”

“When I was a kid I was terrified of thunderstorms. I grew up in Texas and I was so scared that lightning and thunder would mean a tornado was coming,” she added as clips of her childhood flashed.

“But my mom gave me these books for kids that explained storms and lightning and thunder and basically said, ‘The more you learn about it, the less you’re going to be afraid of it.’ And it really helped.”
