One word: Wow. Stars marched in exquisite style last evening for the 92nd Academy Awards, wrapping up the craze of awards period in style. Lots of nominees trended toward the classic black as well as white shade palette, including Renée Zellweger and Cynthia Erivo, while others brought a pop of color to the red rug (we’re looking at you, Florence Pugh).
There were a lot of embellishments, as well. Entertainer Janelle Monae shined intense in a personalized gown that was dirtied with 168,000 Swarovski crystals. It took over 600 hours of hand-embroidery to complete. The most significant reference is Natalie Portman, who used the red rug to make a statement on gender equal rights.
Her cape was embroidered with a listing of all the deserving female supervisors and also various other creatives that weren’t chosen for an award this year. Scroll through the most remarkable looks from the 2020 Oscars red rug below.
