Netflix hit You’s crossing over to the Atlantic to London for its fourth season, and we’ve got a question could fan favourite Jenna Ortega, who played Joe’s young, film buff neighbour Ellie in season two?
We know that Charlotte Ritchie (Feel Good, Fresh Meat) will be joining as a love interest of creepy Joe Goldberg’s (Penn Badgley), and Jenna is having a crazy time at the moment, starring as Wednesday Addams in Netflix’s Wednesday and in the upcoming Scream 6 film.
So would she have time to make an appearance in You’s latest season?
Nothing’s been confirmed, but we’re not ruling it out just yet.
I actually would love to,” she told Vulture in an interview earlier this year, calling the You set “one of my favourite sets I’ve ever been on”.
“I’m still a fan of the show. I almost did a bit more with the third season, but there were scheduling issues,” she explained.
When asked where her character Ellie is now, Jenna talked about her hopes and dreams for the character, but didn’t clarify whether she would definitely back to bring it to the screen.
“My hope for her is she would still be making movies and writing scripts,” she said. “I would hope that she films something that gets successful enough or puts her in a place that she wants to be. But unfortunately, I feel like she’s still in Florida.”
In an interview with Cosmopolitan US back in 2021, when asked if she was returning for You’s third season, Jenna said she was “more than happy” to make a return.
“I love that set,” she said. “The team behind it, the writers are so witty and so funny, and then also just to work with Penn Badgley again. I had such an incredible time there that if they would like to have me back, I’m more than happy to take a few digs at Joe again.”
Fans have speculated on Reddit as to whether any Easter Eggs have been left in previous seasons as to whether Ellie could return. One posted: “I’m rewatching season 2 and Love tells Ellie if the film thing doesn’t work out you should go to culinary school in Paris… Idk I feel like could she be there?”
